Breaking Bread Breaking Stigma

What is Breaking Bread?

BBBS is Hopewell’s largest annual fundraiser! Annually, we at Hopewell partner with local chefs from the Ottawa region for an unforgettable night. Guests will receive sampler sandwiches from each chef as well as drinks, and live entertainment to help support Hopewell services and programming. Breaking Bread will also feature a live auction and raffle items.

At the end of the evening, two chefs will be crowned winners: The People’s Choice Award (voted by our guests), and The Sandwich Sovereign (voted by our special judging panel). Breaking Bread is an opportunity to support Hopewell and local chefs, all while having a great night.

  • Because food is the medicine that takes our clients from illness to wellness, and from hopelessness to recovery. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the amazing diversity of local chefs, whose life’s work is providing this nourishment for all of us.

  • Due to the nature of the event, the chefs are only able to make adjustments for vegetarians (by providing an alternate protein), and those with Celiac disease or a severe gluten allergy (by using gluten-free bread). Please email events@hopewell.ca after you have purchased your tickets to inform us if you require either or both of these adjustments to be made for you. Those who do not inform the organizers in advance of these requirements may not be able to be accommodated on-site.

  • No, however, a host bar will be available for those aged 19 and older. Non-alcoholic options will also be available.

  • Absolutely! Tax receipts will be issued by the end of November following the event.

  • Please email our Communications and Events Coordinator at events@hopewell.ca
